Hi Everyone,
This article will guide you how to solve strobe flash issues:
To understand what is the source of the issue, press on your flash "Test" button (different in each flash brand and model).
a. If the flash is not working at all = The issue is in the strobe flash head.
b. If the flash is working = it's a connection or a camera issue.
Strobe Flash Head Issue:
1. Make sure your flash is connected to the power.
2. Try to change the power outlet.
3. Try to replace the flash bulb.
Connection or Camera Issue:
1. Make sure that your camera is on M (manual) mode.
2. Make sure the Slave mode is disabled (usually an eye-icon button on your flash).
3. Make sure that the sync cord and hot shoe are connected properly.
4. Try to disconnect the sync cord and the hot shoe and reconnect.
5. Try tightening up the connection between the hot shoe and the camera a little piece of paper or toothpick.
6. Try to replace the sync cord and\or the hot shoe.
7. Check if there is a setting in your camera that blocks the flash. If you want to be sure, you can reset your camera settings (Menu > Clear settings) and re-set the camera settings to the recommended ones.
*** If you're at an event with no other backup - Increase your camera's ISO to the maximum. If it's not bright enough, you can try to lower the Aperture and Shutter speed***
- If your flash is firing for no apparent reason ("by itself") or when another photographer in the room is taking a photo - disable the Salve Mode in the flash.
